"It seems strange to say, but what can help modern man find the answers to his own mystery and the mystery of him in whose image he is created, is silence, solitude -- in a word, the desert. Modern man needs these things more than the hermits of old." Catherine Doherty

a time of transition

It would appear God is calling us to a new adventure.

After 5 years working to support and sustain the religious mission of the
Mary Theotokos Monastic center, suddenly and unexpectedly John has been offered a visiting Asst. Professorship of Theater at Franciscan University of Steubenville. So the Walkers are moving to Steubenville Ohio early next month.

After careful consideration and prayer we are happy to announce the new caretakers will be taking over operations here on August 5th 2015.

They are the Grassleys. Robert and Misty and their three children, We have worked with this family here since they came for their first retreat and they fully understand the mission of the center and embrace it's Catholic identity and spiritual work.

So the mission will continue and the retreats will too, though it may take a bit for new posts on this blog to arrive as the Grassleys will have a great deal to contend with as they step into a entirely life consuming adventurous faith journey of their own.

I hope you will support them as you have supported us in our efforts to feed the poor, host retreats and basically bring all closer to Christ through a relationship with his Holy Mother and ours.

Thank you to all our followers, supporters and retreatants over the past five years, we hope you will journey up the driveway again soon for the calm and peaceful tranquility that Mary Theotokos has to offer your soul and heart here in Newark VT.

Pax et Bonum,
